My name is Michaela Rumanková. I am special education teacher and I teach children with Autism in a special class at the Kindergarten in Bratislava, Slovakia.
I joined the project I am Having Fun with Orff together with my colleague Božena Beníková, who teaches in common class ,, Maravčeky ". Children with Autism did all tasks and project activities together with children from the common class Mravčeky.
Music, dance, songs, rhythm and games brought together all the children who, without differents, worked together with their teachers on this great project and together they formed Inclusive team for several months.
This project was of great benefit to children with Autism both in terms of cognitive, emotional, communicative and social aspects. For children with Autism, music, musical elements, movement, body percussion and rhythmization using Orff's instruments not only fulfilled their educational goal, but also had a therapeutic effect on them.
This project developed Communication, Social interactions, Perception, Attention, Self-realization and Self-expression, Motivation, Stress management and Personal development in Kids with Autism . Fine and gross motor skills were also stimulated.
The music influenced their aesthetic feelings, behavior and experience.
Music is an important part of raising and educating children from an early age. The study of rhythm and music plays a very important role in a child's development. By developing rhythmic skills and rhythm, the child develops attention and ability to concentrate, memory, motion imitation, aesthetic feeling, body coordination, perception, creativity and the child is given space to express himself. As Carl Orff advocated, it is important to combine music education with physical education. Through the I am Having Fun with Orff project, the children got to know world-famous composers and their most famous musical works, learned to recognize musical instruments, perceive music and express themselves by dancing and rhythmizing with rhythmic instruments and playing on the body. In the project, we created various fun activities using web tools web.2 and created many original works in which children supported and developed creativity, musical and rhythmic abilities, skills, perception and feeling.
A great benefit was the webinars and workshops for children, in which all children from the project regularly participated.
A great team of passionate teachers collaborated on the project, not only to teach the children but also to have fun with Orff.
